Appointments

Wan Shi Tong is a very busy spirit owl, but he might be willing to spare you some time if it's important enough. However, he does request that you label it in a orderly fashion with the type of entry and the date for cataloging.

[ Helios will refill his cup with some more tea before setting the thermos down again. ] Ah, well, I was in a meeting with Aang and a man called Steve Rogers the other day. Aang suggested that you should have your private collection of books while still allowing public access to the library as a whole. And in that way you'd still be allowed to preform your duties as a spirit of knowledge while giving the people here public access to the library. I'd even give you a few books from my own world to look over. And perhaps you could even offer up your services to safe guard books for people who don't have the means to, ah, protect the knowledge they wish to keep from prying eyes. It could be a sort of agreement with each person individually as you've done so thus far with a few people here.

[ It might even allow Wan Shi to get more familiar with the people here and interacting with humans in general. ]

[ Oh dear. Helios will recoil ever so slightly at that irritated movement. Please to not be hurting him Wan Shi, he's just trying to make some middle ground. ]

N-No, no! That's not what I meant at all. I simply meant that in addition to the library you could perhaps start your own library in a sense. It would be like having a piece of home here with you, you know? I know this is all a bit daunting to arrive in a place like this and have people react the way that they have. But I...I'm not sure if things will change if we continue this course. I don't want Loki to have the last say in this, because t-to be honest I'm...not very trusting of him in general. And I also don't want you to feel as if you're being cast aside. I don't think the people here are quite ready for-for what you're trying to do. Luceti in general is a very free place, everything is free, even food. And regulation is something we're not used to having. But perhaps if we could track the books that were taken out via magic or something like that.

[ He'll pause as he thinks on it. ] Ah. Perhaps we could use a regulatory card system. It would be affixed to a map of the town and the sigils drawn in the books could act like beacons. They could actually tell you where the books are after being taken out of the library and if the beacon disappears that would notify that the book has been destroyed or tampered with. [ He'll look at the owl with an inquiring look. ]

Would something like this ease your worry about having books taken out of the library? [ It's worth a shot, right? ]

Ah well. Perhaps it's because back home there's lots of regulations as well. I know here I can use my magic a lot more freely than back at home and it's...it's nice really to be able to have something like that. Not having to worry about facing death for preforming magic out in public is something I definitely would fight for if it was taken away here.

[ His eyes light up just a little with some hope. He perks up just a little bit in his reply. ] Really? You'd consider something like that then? I'd suggest putting protective spells on the books so they couldn't be destroyed but I don't think people would take kindly to that idea either, even if I suggested it. But perhaps something like this could benefit us in a few ways. To be honest before you arrived I was thinking about implementing a system to keep track of books that were checked out and not checked out anyway. It's hard enough with the amount of traffic this place gets during the day.

[ And he had other places to be of course, like the cafe and school. ]
