Chapter Two - And the Owl Came Back~ [Video/Action]

[The video feed will come on with a figure that most everyone in Luceti is probably familiar with by now. The large owl towering over the journal and an overcast sky above him as it rains lightly.]

Greetings citizens of Luceti, I am Wan Shi Tong, he who knows ten thousand things.

[Sound familiar?]

In my world I am the spirit of knowledge and I have my own library for the betterment of mankind. As such, I believe my services here would be most valuable to you.

However, it would seem that for some reason I am unable to enter your library. I would appreciate an explanation or perhaps some assistance in this matter.

[The feed will then cut off. And in the mean time, the owl will be sitting outside the library. In the rain. He's getting wet out here.]

[OOC: Feel free to either respond or run into Wan Shi Tong getting wet outside the library!]

[Xellos appears beside Wan Shi Tong with a rather large colourful Umbrella which he spins around playfully]

It is a good barrier, isn't it?

[Looking down as Xellos appears, he then looks back to the building itself.]

It is quite effective, though I do not understand the purpose of it.

[He holds the umbrella over Wan Shi Tong's head and then just allows it to float there keeping him out of the rain]

I would think that should be blatantly obvious, Mr. Wan Shi Tong.

[The spirit tilts his head.]

How so? Clearly it is meant for keeping something out, but I fail to see the reasoning.

[He smiles waving a finger at Wan Shi Tong]

It is meant to keep only one thing out, possibly two.

And what would that be?

[Well, he supposed it was only a matter of time before someone made the joke]

I think you mean to say who.

[The joke goes completely over his head.]

Who then?

[Well, might as well play along with it a bit then]

Who indeed? Who would people want to prevent getting access to the library?

I do not know. I had assumed the library was freely open to everyone.

[Xellos gives a bit of a dramatic sigh]

Would you like a hint?

[Well, day two, and Ginko has managed to get an umbrella and some standard cigarettes... but neither hide nor hair of his box full of mushi and scientific equipment. He was about to make his usual rounds to the store, but something of course is immediately distracting.

That certainly looks more familiar (and worrysome) than anything else in this town. He's across the street, watching as some people walk right by and others avoid the issue altogether... that's... odd. He's not sure whether to approach, or to give this god or spirit its berth.]

You look out of place.

[He doesn't directly address Wan Shi Tong with that, but it's audible enough.]

[There is a pause. If an owl can look annoyed, he does.]

If you are suggesting it is me, that is unlikely. I just arrived. Why would there be a barrier keeping me specifically from the library?

[Considering the nature of the statement, he can only assume it's meant for him.]

Yes, a large spirit in the form of an owl in the middle of a dominantly human village would look out of place.

[...Aahh, well, Ginko can't help but smile a little. At least this is something a lot more familiar than the rest of it.]

If you don't mind me butting my nose in, might I ask why you're here?

I am uncertain what your butt and nose have to do with anything, but I shall tell you.

[Yes he did just say that.]

I wish to enter the library, however I can not.

Oh? That is strange.

[He decides that politeness is best set aside - there's investigating to do! He'll come look at the entrance to the library.]

Is it a compulsion keeping you away, or does it repel you through your senses?

[Wan Shi Tong stretches out a wing to demonstrate and it hits against a force field of some type. There is also a magical ward in effect.]

[Strange indeed. The barrier doesn't seem to affect Ginko, which is an odd juxtaposition as his hand goes through the entrance just as easily as if there were no issue and the spirit's wing clearly strikes something solid. Ginko spends a few moments inspecting the door frame and the ground. He can't see anything very clearly, even after several solid minutes of close inspection.]

Sorry. I can't see what's causing this, just yet. Why did you want to use the library?

I am a knowledge spirit.

[He figures that's reason enough.]

[It does explain some things.]

Do you spread it, feed from it, or hoard it?

[He's expecting "feed from it" given the strength of this barrier.]

Though a crude use of words, I suppose the first and last of the options would apply. In my world I have my own collection of knowledge that I have opened for humanity to learn from.

Alright. It looks like this library, unfortunately, is someone else's territory. We'll probably have to find a place for you to start from scratch.

[Always rough, but it always has to be an option. He can only imagine what his Mushi-collector friend would wail about if he lost his collection and had to start all over.]

Is there a particular type of knowledge you collect? Or is it simply all writings?

[Wan Shi Tong looks at the library, perhaps a bit forlornly. There is bound to be a great wealth of knowledge in there and he can't even read it.]

That seems to be the only option at this time.

[Sigh.]

The majority of my collection is composed of writings yes. However I also keep specimens and artifacts. Anything that can be considered knowledge or learned from.]
