Wan Shi Tong is a very busy spirit owl, but he might be willing to spare you some time if it's important enough. However, he does request that you label it in a orderly fashion with the type of entry and the date for cataloging.

[There's definitely something different and distinctly un-library-like about the library now. Farlan may not have any special powers of perception, but he doesn't need them to guess what must have happened. It's all too obvious.

He could have predicted things would end up this way, but then, most people could have. He's just glad he's not involved, and he's hoping that wherever the books are, he's able to regain access to them.

He isn't even sure if the bird is still here, but he addresses the air, just in case. You probably can't really tell, where a spirit is concerned.]

Hey. Guess you didn't quite manage the finesse.

[His tone is not altogether unsympathetic. He's used to working with the finesse-impaired.]

[A voice will come from further in the library where Wan Shi Tong is moping.]

Hmph. I do not believe that finesse would have aided me in this case.

That's where your wrong. It would have. But you'd have had to--you know, exercise it.

[Maybe he should be more afraid of the giant owl, but at least people don't die here, right? And it hasn't seemed violent so far. Nonetheless, he's very wary of giant things, approaching slowly.]

And probably should have started out with it. Not that this is still a finesse kind of problem, but you could keep it in mind for the future.

Perhaps, but what is done is done. I will retaliate if a solution can not be found otherwise.

[Farlan will find Wan Shi Tong sitting next to a shelf that has only a handful of books left on it.]

[He comes to a halt--not too close to Wan Shi Tong, examining the shelf from a slight distance.]

I don't think that's a good idea... There are a lot of powerful people here. It's only going to cause trouble.

I mean, look what they did to all the books.

[Clearly they're able to outmatch the bird in this, at least.]

[He turns to face Farlan.]

And that is exactly why I will retaliate. However, I will give time for negotiations. If they fail, I will retrieve them myself.

[Farlan takes an instinctive step back.]

I mean, they obviously have some serious abilities, or they couldn't have done this. It's better to avoid causing trouble here, we've got enough trouble to worry about. But I'm not going to argue with you. I'm not involved. Good luck.

They are the ones that have caused the trouble, not I.

[He's not going to just sit around and let them whisk away the books like this. He will protect them and he's not going to be swayed. So dropping the subject is probably best.]

If you are referring to a way in which to stay here. I do not. However, like you, I have no interest in returning to my world.

[Farlan isn't going to point out that he came in and took charge of the books that were doing fine without his help before he got here, because he doesn't think the bird is going to budge on that count.]

No? That's too bad. I mean, I'd rather go to some other world altogether, since we're prisoners here, but I'd take staying here over going back anytime. You think there's some way you can figure it out?

As distasteful as it might seem, it would perhaps be best to consult our captors of such a possibility.
