Chapter Three - Eating Crow [Video]

[At Loki's demand, Wan Shi Tong is opening the journal and turning on the  video feed. A large black and white owl towering over his journal once more.]

Greetings, residents of Luceti. This is Wan Shi Tong.

Upon my arrival, there was an incident regarding the library that I'm sure many of you recall.

After being slain at the hands of Loki, losing my memories as a result, and being barred from the library. I have been forced to evaluate this situation.

I do not remember or fully understand my previous motives, but I will admit that I was perhaps in error. Despite any good intentions I may have had at the time, it was wrong of me to treat this library as my own.

For that, and if I have offended anyone in the process, I offer my sincere apologies. I will no longer impose any rules upon the library without the rest of the village's consent. The knowledge here has been intended for the use of everyone by the Malnosso who has provided it, and it should remain that way.

As a further gesture of my good will, I will be putting my vast knowledge to further use for the good of the community. There are some worlds that have things called, advice columns. I will be offering one such entry per month as a means to answer questions and offer my knowledge. You may submit your questions in any form you wish, and I will honor any request for them to remain anonymous. These entries will be posted at the end of every month, starting with the 31st of this month.

Good day.

[Now Wan Shi Tong will look at something off camera.]

Now if you will kindly allow me access to the library, I would be most appreciative.

[And with that the feed cuts off.]

(( OOC: Questions for Wan Shi Tong's advice column can be submitted here.))

I've spoken to Aang in passing, but I'm not familiar with him. My job is a bit similar to this, though most humans can't see "spirits" or gods in my world. The difference of how involved the two parties are in this case makes this a bit unusual, compared to old cases.

Most don't communicate. I had to study them to understand their instincts and behaviors.

It's still the same case in my world, though there's no separate world. It's simply that only a small number of people are able to see or hear Mushi, so their effects on others often are overlooked or blamed on something else.

There's no one person that has this job. There's a small portion of the population able to see Mushi, and a percentage of those people decide to make a living out of dealing with them. Most Mushishi, at least once in their career, have to mediate between a more intelligent mushi and the affected human population.

If things are more separated as it seems to be for your world, it should be noted that the mushi don't exist in a separate world. They get a lot more personally involved.

It depends on what they desire. Some become impersonators of children to be nurtured, some simply wish to make a journey towards the light of the moon or the sun... it depends on the species and what each organism intends to gain. Very few come remotely close to a human mindset, and have a very alien way of thinking.

[But he does have a knack for thinking enough along those lines to solve problems with them. It's why he suspects that Wan Shi Tong's drive is less based on desire and more on need, whether or not that's true.]
