Chapter Two - And the Owl Came Back~ [Video/Action]

[The video feed will come on with a figure that most everyone in Luceti is probably familiar with by now. The large owl towering over the journal and an overcast sky above him as it rains lightly.]

Greetings citizens of Luceti, I am Wan Shi Tong, he who knows ten thousand things.

[Sound familiar?]

In my world I am the spirit of knowledge and I have my own library for the betterment of mankind. As such, I believe my services here would be most valuable to you.

However, it would seem that for some reason I am unable to enter your library. I would appreciate an explanation or perhaps some assistance in this matter.

[The feed will then cut off. And in the mean time, the owl will be sitting outside the library. In the rain. He's getting wet out here.]

My Knowledge Seeker does seem able to go through the barrier, yes.

[He seems genuinely curious. Knowledge for knowledge's sake and all that.]

[When the small human speaks, Wan Shi Tong turns his direction towards her. His feathers are quite wet by now and he certainly isn't in his usual dignified appearance.]

I do not see any other alternative.

[After all, of all the places in Luceti, this is where he belongs.]

[When addressed, Wan Shi Tong looks at the young woman with a slight tilt of his head.]

This is a most generous and kind offer. I do not have any particular subjects in mind. Any sort will do. Though I do fear the books will become damaged in this weather.

[Aang saw the journal entry shortly after he parted ways with Wan.

He felt a lump of guilt inside of him, but he wasn't sure why. Had the negotiations not gone so smoothly - had Wan Shi Tong been brainwashed in some way? Or had he gone home and come again within a week from a much earlier point in time, in an example of how fickle this world could be?

Aang didn't consider the other alternative. He did not want to consider that Wan Shi Tong was gone for exactly a week and the implications of that specific period of absence.

He had a sad smile on his face as he approached the Knowledge Spirit. Just as he was doing to himself; he did to Wan Shi Tong. He quietly bent the water around them so it was like they both had invisible umbrellas.]

You... you really don't remember me, do you?

[Jade remembers the owl alright from the shift. And since then, he's only been silently following the proceedings over the journals; Nephry had spoken with him will enough. But now, this new turn seems curious. Could he not remember this place in some way?

He was actually in the library at the time, so he stepped outside and opened an umbrella for himself as he looked up towards the gigantic owl, in a casual manner.]

Mr. Tong, I presume.

[Ah yes, the boy from yesterday.]

Aside from yesterday, no, I do not.

[Should he? But he does notice the waterbending.]

You have the appearance of an Air Nomad, but you can waterbend. That certainly validates your claim to being an Avatar.

[Sigh. Why did these humans insist on shortening his name?]

Yep! And that's a lot more where that came from. [He tries to be friendly. He doesn't think Wan Shi Tong would lie like this, so... it's kind of like starting on a fresh leaf.] I'm the Avatar after Roku. Do you remember him?

[Because Jade Curtiss is a man who strives for formality and titles in speaking with others.

Or he thought it was amusing when his sister did so.]

Colonel Jade Curtiss, of the Malkuth Imperial Forces, Third Division. [He gives a light shrug.] But I imagine all of that means nothing to you.

Then at least he can get you books.

[She looks around for the fox, not really wanting it anywhere near her.]

And I can keep the rain off. At least then you can read in peace.

Her mother and father were both dragons. She is as the natural world intended. Where those who were born from the mixing of bloods are not. [She could go on to explain how that means her body may one day betray her as it does for most mixed spices of her world. At times slowly and quickly breaking down. It all depends on luck and how well the bloodlines mixed for how long one such as herself can live.

But that would be explaining a weakness to someone she does not trust. That is never a wise move for someone who grew up in the wild.]

[He has to deduce that this boy is from the future. Hm.]

Hm, I see. If that is what nature has intended in your world, why is it that mixing of blood occurs?

[Yes, he is a bit nosy.]

[He highly doubts that many of these buildings could house one as big as himself, and reading in the middle of the street isn't exactly peaceful.]

Indeed. I have not had the opportunity to read about your world. For... obvious reasons.

[There is perhaps a bit of irritation in his voice at his predicament.]

[That earns a smile - and a solution.] I can keep them dry long enough to bring them somewhere else where you can read them. After all, everyone should be able to enjoy them.

Well that's not true at all. [She points to the barracks and the battle dome off in the distance. They're easily as tall as her home, if not moreso.]

Those are big enough for you, easily. Just have your fox...[She stumbles over the word with a grimace.] bring you books.

[That's understandable as well. Hilda's keeping out of the rain in contrast, since she doesn't want to get the books too wet, though she motions with her staff to the forest.]

There's a large dome in the forest that would be big enough to house you, isn't there? Though you're a spirit of knowledge, I think it would be best to keep your feathers dry until this magic lets up... or until someone dispels it.

[Which she might be able to do? Though she' not sure, since the magic of her realm feels different than this one's.]

[There’s a distinct lack of bitterness in the way the spirit addresses the network particularly in his acknowledgement of the library as belonging to those other than himself. Isaac suspects first that it may be an act, but from what he knows of Wan Shi Tong it seems just as possible if not more so that he would favour a direct approach to problem-solving over bothering with subtler means and manipulative games. Either way, Isaac isn’t about to let a surprisingly optimistic perspective on the potential of mankind, sincere or insincere, go without voicing his own opinion.]

Betterment…? [He lets out a soft, scoffing chuckle, though his amusement doesn't reach his eyes.] Please; if you hope to persuade these creatures that you have their best interests at heart, you are failing miserably.

Whoa... really? Then what do you remember?

I see. That's quite the shame. [He just doesn't sound too heartbroken about it.] What exactly is barring your entrance?

It has happened on occasion in the past. At times for unexplained reasons two creatures decide to lay together. Lately many creatures are finding less mates to lay with and choose by force to lay with another creature. As the blood mix together more and more it is getting harder to know the differences between each other.

Well, basically you hoarded a bunch of books and refused to let people take them out. People objected to this since it wasn't the earlier policy, and from there a little tiff happened.
